hen the office of The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich, contacted The Law Offices of Petrie & Associates early
this year, it was the firm’s founder Michael E. Petrie who took the call. Mr. Gingrich’s office had contacted the firm to ask assistance with
certain aspects of the Speaker's tax reform initiative. After numerous subsequent communications, Mr. Petrie along with several of the firm's attorneys met with Speaker Gingrich. "I
was impressed by the sincerity and commitment exuded by the Speaker. Even though the matters discussed were complex and extremely
important, Mr. Gingrich has a casual manner which made it easy to feel comfortable speaking with him."
Currently, the average American is taxed at 38% of their annual income. The current tax code is 555 million words in length, generates eight
billion pages of forms each year and confounds even tax experts. Americans spend over $200 million annually simply trying to adhere to the
tax code. An attorney at Petrie & Associates, who does not share Mr. Gingrich’s political affiliation, conceded that "even though I’m a
Democrat, it is quite an honor to be contacted by the office of The Speaker of the House on a matter of such importance, and to meet with
him must be considered inspiring."
Attorney Michael E. Petrie is a member of the Bar in several jurisdictions, including New York, California, Texas, Washington, D.C.
and The United States Supreme Court. He is a former member of The Presidential Task Force and received
special accommodation for his services from President Ronald Reagan. He has spoken in support of current administration policies
on several occasions, expressed his views in a Houston, Texas radio interview and was recently the focus of a full
page article in a well known Orange County, California publication.
